Touch Phone! VINTAGE~ FEATURED POST!

As i was digging around my house today and cleaning/tidying my house i found an amazing thing. the thing was a touchphone buried deep within the chasms of some old books and useless wires. It looked strange and weird but it was bearing the name touchphone. I was immediatedly fascinated and looked at it wondering how it worked. well it was something like a walkie talkie. i dont really know the range or details of it but basically you "TOUCH" the buttons and talk and when i say touch i mean touch as in touch screen touch. It basically felt like a laptop's mousepad but yeah its old and vintage. not to mention rare. do a google search on touch phone and you'll understand what i mean. So basically i was touching something Hi-tech from my Gramp's age and it still worked albeit a few minor "disfunctions". to get a clearer view check out the pictures I have taken and uploaded. vintage eh? 

MEGAMIND

Hi folks ! It has been a reallly long time since I last posted but do forgive me .
I had been engrossed in Luffy's Adventures in One Piece , you really should try it
Anyways back on topic, i had just recently went to watch the movie MEGAMIND and i was quite literally blown away! It has a better storyline than despicable me and looks very very good to say the least.
So yeah im gona do a review of it and do be aware of spoilers along the way . o
MEGAMIND was released in cinemas all over the world on the 5th of november and shook the world to its core with its incredible plot and totally changed the traditional Good Vs Evil concept . It is currently #1 in the US  BOX OFFICE and was directed by Tom Graff and starred Brad Pitt, Tina Fey,Jonah Hill and Will Ferret as voice actors. Produced by Dreamworks Animation and Red Hour Productions
The story revolves around Megamind  who is voiced by Will Ferret dealing with Metroman voiced by Brad Pitt ever since they were borned. At the start of the movie the megamind and metroman are shown as babies and the last survivors of their planets sent off to earth . Following that metroman was adopted by a rich family while megamind landed in prision where he had gotten bad influence . Metroman and megamind were then sent to the same school where megamind was despised. After a timeskip, they both have grown older and they started fighting with each other, megamind had used a death ray and supposedly killed metroman but metroman had used that as a reason to escape his heroic life and became a musican in hiding.After awhile megamind starts getting bored and sad as he has nobody to challenge him anymore and decides to make a hero to fight him called titan, the plan backfires and megamind was forced to defeat titan himself with help from Metroman's old girlfriend which has started to date with megamind's alter ego bernard and so megamind became the town's hero with metroman silently congratulation him. Basically, this secret was released a few hours ago and made known to the world by an amazing guy.

Katekyo Hitman !Reborn

Thing is, this anime is like super famous now. at least 30% of my classmates are watching it. Holy Sht. i tried an episode and liked it immediatedly. it rocks but its VERYVERY LONG with 3 seasons and about 200 episodes so far.. Its story line is kinda strange and unique with it being kinda funny with lotsa stuff.

Well the main storyline is something along training a normal kid to become a top mafia boss with lotsa humor. +100 :D SWT anime

Today is yet another sad day for microsoft, they have taken down yet another one of their phones, the Kin.
which was targeted at teenagers with the main focus on it for socialization.

Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows

Sweeeeeeet. well for some, the last and final part of the Harry Potter trilogy from J.K Rowling is going to be on the big screen FINALLY! Thing is, it'll be presented in 2 parts and the 2 parts are like 1 year apart. but Harry Potter's awesome and you have to wait for good things right? Well, here's the trailer

Oh and from what i gather,  Part 1 going to be released on 19th novemeber 2010 in the USA and lotsa other countries but there's no info on singapore yet and part 2 well... according to the trailer its somewhere in 2011.

Well, this first week of the new term so far has really sucked for me.. first my laptop which was working fine the night before had some error after i returned from school and the only people who would touch my laptop was my bro.. and they're still denying it. so my laptop is spoiled.

now, my fan has been spoiled too, same scenerio as above ^^ and this time even weirder.. something from my fan is missing, the part is so big that it couldnt have disappear when my fan slammed into the floor, so obviously somebody stole that vital part of the fan..

so FCUK this. i hate this week... no fan = hot and sweaty zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Kinect/Natale

Hi, if you have been an avid follower of my blog you would know about the up and coming Xbox addon called the Kinect. It was called Project Natal in its developement stages but now its offically named as the kinect. Apparently, it is a "thing" that works like the Nintendo Wii but WITHOUT any controllers so yeah, you can jus "pretend" to drive a car by forming the shape of a steering wheel and turning. Cool eh? So here's the latest news, the Kinect is likely to cost quite alot.. USD$150 was the last estimated price, but there is a rumor going around that microsoft will try to sell it at cost price, maybe even below cost price as it actually costs them alot of money to build the kinect. So lets just pray that it'll be cheap and there will be fun games lined up for it. Besides, the kinect and the new xbox will look very cool beside each other :D            

Swim-ing

So yeah, you wanna swim? your good at swimming you say? well you might want to avoid this swimming pool. Its in Singapore believe it or not, 55 storeys up, this infinity pool could glide you straight over the edge of Singapore, if not the world. It's part of the $6 billion Marina Bay Sands Skypark hotel, which just opened this week. Oh and this is now the most expensive hotel in the world, the previous record owner was an Abu Dhabi's Emirates Palace Hotel which had cost only $3 billion to build back in the 2004's. iPhone 4 drop test

Well, the new iphone was suppose to be very durable, but exackly how durable is it when its dropped?
according to apple, their glass is 40x stronger then plastic and lotsa other stuff. The casing is also one of the "best" in the world but how do these stuff fair when they're dropped? time and time again. well watch this video
you'll be shocked to find out about that.


Personally, i have dropped my phone more times than that and my phone is still well and functioning but then again the conditions might have been diffrent. If this iphone was suppose to be very strong and durable,and it broke on the 5th drop, i am imagining the thousand other older generation iphones.. =

Well well well, the day has finally come, somebody has finally tryed to do a phishing scam on me well, im not stupid or retarded so i didnt fall for it, at first glance it looks very real but if u look properly there's something wrong. Anyways lets hope that after reading this you will not fall for this kind of stuff and spread the msg out :D losing your Email account is very painful..

so you see, this email looks like its really like its from microsoft but actually its a phishing email. take note of the email it was sent from, anyway microsoft has always proclaimed that neither they or anybody will ever ask for your personal ID and PW so yeah if you see these types of stuff, jus ignore them.

Xbox 360 Slim + Accessories

Before we start, let me thank you for bothering to visit my blog. well, onwards back on topic !

Microsoft has already released the New Xbox 360 which is smaller and slimmer, apart from that,there was only a few other minor changes which included a noise reduction system, it may be small at the moment but it would certainly help you immerse deeper into the game which you are playing.

For some, the next change might be quite important, the hard disk drive has been upgraded to 250 GB and since storage is always a problem, it sure would be helpful nevertheless.

The next change sounds amazing, Microsoft has removed the red ring of death, it sounded incredible and made alot of people happy, for the time it was belived. But according to Sony, Microsoft had'nt fix the problem causing the red ring of death but they had just changed the colour symbolizing the error, they had changed  it to green so people will now curse " THE GREEEN RING OF DEATH"

And the best thing of all? There will be a port for you to plug in the soon to come Microsoft Kinect Motion sensor, previously know as Project Natale.  Well thats the lowdown about the Xbox 360 Slim. Its Compact and Improved. Oh and it will still be called the Xbox 360.

Maplestory

So yeah, if you read the previous post, you would have known im gona be maple crazy most of this june holidays so here's Part 1 of the Maplestory Saga.  Well. Here's a brief introduction to maplestory, there's a lot of versions of it but i play Maplesea. Its hosted and managed by asiasoft and there are alot of servers, channels and worlds.I play in a world called bootes and there are a multitude of jobs available. Most of the jobs are evenly balanced and most of them relate back to the same "core substance" what do i mean by that? There are wizards in the game and there are many diffrent type of wizards, some of them are branching out but others are just diffrent disciplines of magic-ness. What do i mean? well stay tuned and ill start talking about em if i have the time.
Okay. so. well, lemee branch into another subtopic. JOBS.

as you can see from the pictures, each and every one of those characters represent a diffrent job or class. 

I shall label the names of these "overall job tittles" to make for easy recognization.

EVAN.                                   ARAN                                   EXPLORERS                            KOC    

[KOC stands for knights of cygnus]  Anyways. The explorers were the first and only "Job Species" available for a long time, the other 3 were added within the period of a year or two which is quite shocking :D Following the Explorers, the Knights of Cygnus were released and a period of time later the Arans which are essentially warriors with special skills and the combo effect thing.And Evan which are essentially wizards who were just released and attack through their dragons unlike their other KOC and Explorer counterparts. 

Well. Time for the rundown for the explorer and koc job species. There are 5 jobs in both and explorer and KOC species, Thief, Bowman,Warrior,Wizard and Pirate for the explorer species and for the KOC species Nightwalker,Windbreaker,Soul Master,Firemage and Striker. 

Essentially the same core idea.All of these jobs have their various storylines which are intriuging and awesome and most of them are equally balanced. With the addition of Aran and Evan, i can believe that there might be Bowman,Pirate and Thief counterparts too. So that's the rundown on the jobs and for their storyline, GOOGLE it.I'm not gona post a whole paragraph here again.                            

Maplesea Craze!

Heya readers, long time no see [ or post ] anyway, sorry'bout that, been busy playing MapleSea.Yes i know chilidsh 2D side scrolling MMORPG but after i gave it another shot, i got hooked almost immediatedly, by the new "classess" or jobs.If you have been following this blog for a long time, you would have renember a post where i mentioned the class Evan. Apparently, that character attacks through his DRAGON!. and you can ride the DRAGON @ level 50 which is pretty awesome. Anyways, Byes, im off to play maple now. From what i can get from the website, the exhibition is going to last from the 28th of may to the 30th with the new paper competitions all the way. It will also last from 11am to 9pm daily and it will be hosted @ singapore expo hall 6B. Entry is FoC! There's also going to be quite a few games that are going to be released at the event itself such as Counter Strike Online by IAH games and Requiem by @global. This might actually be the gaming event of the year! I would be  going on the 28th if i have a school holiday on the day which happens to be a friday and vesak day too. Great Sword?

Hahahahaha what do u think swords are for? do people even use swords anymore? well i dont think so but the people at coldsteel sure are making awesome swords and thinking up creative ideas to use them.This video is Hilarious and weird at the same time with some violence and gore- pig gore so some err  parential guidance is advised.
 But seriously? What can a sword do in today's mordern word?

Deadly Sniper

Yet another military weapon is being upgraded, this time its a M24 Sniper Rifle.What upgrades? Well nothing short of shooting Further, quieter and more accurately.The M24's barrel is being modified to shoot heavier .300 Winchester Magnum rounds, instead of the 7.62mm NATO ammunition, which should extend the rifle's maximum effective range by hundreds of yards to a maximum of about 1400 yards. The suppressor will reduce the 


noise and flash of the gun so snipers can stay in their hiding positions much longer after they fire and snipe more baddies.The gun will also get  a new chassis that provides  the ability to attach accessories, especially much-needed night-
vision devices that clip on directly to the rail in front of the scope. The scope itself will be improved, adding a variable power system that can reach 16.5x to 25x magnification.The Gun will also get a rangefinder so troops will no longer have to perform calculations on distance.Awesome, i wouldnt want to be on the wrong side of this war. 

3D Youtube

Yes, you read right, Youtube had implemented a quite upgrade about a year ago.And it was no lousy upgrade, youtube began to support 3D videos.Frankly speaking, i didnt even know about this until Gizmodo  mentioned it. Well, Gizmodo did a interview with the guy behind youtube's 3D and here's a summary of what they talked about. The guy got the idea from somebody who had given him 3D glassess and said they worked for Youtube, Then he started to think about it more and more then eventually, he developed this new 3D thing in his spare time.And now Kaboom! we can see 3D videos using any 3D glassess on youtube. oh and here's how you can make use of the 3D option. To toggle the different ways you can view  videos in 3D, you'll need to view them on YouTube, where they'll be equipped with a 3D pulldown menu

Well, hi, first and foremost, i would like to introduce our new author, Joseph. You'll see him post quite often i expect and i believe he will bring lots of interesting stuff to this blog. Anyways, authors aside here's a few movies that you can expect to see in the Cinemas. P.S some of them ARE already released so stay tuned for their reviews.

1. Prince of Persia and the sands of time.
This movie is being produced by Jerry Bruckheimar who produced a few other awesome films like 2010 and the day after tomorrow.The movie is a highly anticipated spin-off of the game which is called the same name.The Game's creater who is called Jordan Mechner was hired to write the script and he was quoted to say "Rather than do a straight beat-for-beat adaptation of the new videogame, we're taking some cool elements from the game and using them to craft a new story" Interestingly, the film was scheduled to be released a day after the release of Transformers, Revenge of the fallen.I do not know what  went wrong but i suppose that it must be the special effects that delayed the film release date.Anyways, the film has finally scheduled an official release date  which is the 28th of may 2010.Oh and here's the part you've been waiting for .The Summary.

“Robin Hood” is the latest presentation of Ridley Scott which is lives up to the works of its well-known character. It also hovers — but immediate from comfortable movies. Scott’s mismanaged matinee-worthy take on that heroic 13th-Century archer who aims England’s corrupt royal families isn’t closely as natural as everyone related with it reportedly beliefs. The excitement about how it bravely reinvents the love story winds up as truthful as that laundry-detergent alleges heralding a “new” “improved” product. There’s no scent of real freshness here
.
“Robinhood” has is basically a superhero story, magnificent with hissable villains, immense war episodes, complicated subplots; a hero with self-conscious childhood remembrances. Not a bad thing if implemented well .The masterful Scott manage well to maintain the fast-speed, assisting polished over flaw.
“Conclusion”
In the pantheon of “Robin Hood” movies, this is a safe and appropriate version. It will be released in cinemas on the 14th of may and it lasts a full 141 minutes. .

Phantom Ray

What do you know, Boeing, has unveiled a new unmanned airplane and its called the Phantom Ray.

Sounds cool eh? well it looks even slicker check out it's image at the side, looks like some sort spy plane we see in the movies.Its Primarily intended to serve as a reconnaissance and intelligence drone, this 36 foot-long airborne robot will be able to cruise at speeds of up to 614mph, and will even do a bit of suppression fire when you need it to. It's designed to be undetectable by radar and offers a minimal heat signature for missiles to lock on to, as its engine is buried deep within the body. Forget about those small radio controlled airplanes    ,these airplanes are war machines.Designed to damage and spy, these robots are no toys.

Boeing Unveils Unmanned Phantom Ray Demonstrator

ST. LOUIS, May 10, 2010 -- The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA] today unveiled the fighter-sized Phantom Ray unmanned airborne system, a test bed for advanced technologies.

"We are on a fast track, and first flight is in sight," said Darryl Davis, president of Boeing Phantom Works. "Phantom Ray is on schedule to fly in December, about two years after this project began. This is a tremendous accomplishment for Boeing and the Phantom Ray team."

Phantom Ray is scheduled to begin taxi tests this summer. The first flight in December will be followed by up to nine additional flights over approximately six months. Phantom Ray is designed to support potential missions that may include intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; suppression of enemy air defenses; electronic attack; strike; and autonomous aerial refueling.

"The initial flights will take Phantom Ray through its paces for the flight test profile. Beyond that, the missions and systems tested will be determined by future warfighter needs," said Craig Brown, Phantom Ray program manager for Boeing.

Most Eco-Friendly Bulb?

What do u know here, Philiphs has created a new Eco-Friendly lightbulb and they're called EnduraLED Due in the fourth quarter of the year, the 60W equivalent at left sucks down only 12 watts of electricity but emits a reported 806 lumens of soft white light -- a ratio green enough to save the world. Cool eh? Bye  Bye to global warming. Good job Philips. Thing is, these light bulbs do NOT come cheap, Philips Sales representative had been quoted to say that these EnduraLED bulbs are gona cost a small fortune, about $60 in green backs and $120 back here in Singapore. And that's just an estimation. Would u pay that much for a Light Bulb? Well lets hope the rest of the world would as these bulbs would actually cut the the world's energy usage by about 5% ? I'm imagining a sales man trying to sell these bulbs, i bet just when the people were going to buy and they hear about the price, they'll run lol.

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Royal Philips Electronics (AEX: PHI, NYSE: PHG) today unveiled its 12 watt EnduraLED light bulb, the industry's first LED replacement for a 60 watt incandescent light bulb. Shown for the first time here at the Lightfair International tradeshow, it marks an important breakthrough in the use of LED lighting technology in everyday applications. Consumers will now have an LED alternative to the most commonly used incandescent bulb, which will deliver up to 80% energy savings and last 25 times longer than its century-old predecessor.

 The significance of developing an LED equivalent to the 60 watt has been recognized by many international organizations, including the U.S. Department of Energy (DoE), who created the L-prize competition to spur development of this highly sought after innovation. Philips' entry was the first, and to date remains the only submission for the L-Prize, which was used as the basis for the 12 watt EnduraLED. Exceeding the Energy Star specifications for a 60 watt bulb, the EnduraLED uses only 12 watts of power while delivering an industry benchmark of 806 lumens.

Every year more than 425 million 60-watt incandescent light bulbs are sold in the United States, representing approximately 50% of the domestic incandescent light bulb market. According to calculations by Philips, this LED replacement has the potential to save 32.6 terawatt-hours of electricity in one year, enough to power the lights of 16.7 million U.S. households or 14.4% of the total number of households in the entire US. It would also eliminate the generation 5.3 million metric tons of carbon emissions annually.

The new lamp uses an innovative design and remote phosphor technology to deliver the same soft white light and shape consumers are familiar with in an incandescent. The EnduraLED works with standard dimmers, further simplifying use and allowing consumers to enjoy an effective, low energy solution for lighting in the home. For business users, particularly those within the hospitality sector, the new lamp will provide instant plug-in savings, through extended life and reduced energy and maintenance costs, in comparison with traditional bulbs.

Expanding on the Philips EnduraLED family of replacement lighting solutions, the new lamp has a rated life of 25,000 hours, as opposed to a standard 60 watt incandescent bulb which is rated at about 1,000 hours. This means that over the course of the LED life, replacing a 60 watt standard bulb could save a business or household $120 per lamp. It will be available in the U.S. in the fourth quarter of 2010, well ahead of U.S. legislation requiring the use of more energy efficient lighting which commences in 2012. The retail price of this EnduraLED has not yet been finalized.

To accelerate the EnduraLED's development and introduction to the market, Philips leveraged the expertise of scientists and lighting designers from around the globe; Philips researchers in The Netherlands created a new remote phosphorous technology and light distribution design, LUXEON LEDs were integrated from Philips Lumileds in San Jose, CA, and electronics for the bulb were built at Philips Color Kinetics in Burlington, MA and Philips Lighting Electronics in Rosemont, IL. From there, the bulbs were then sent to the Philips Quality Assurance team in Shanghai to be rigorously tested, ensuring they met exacting quality and safety standards.

3D HD Camera for Mobile devices Released

 Well, Sharp sure has surprised all of us, they just announced that they have finish developing a 730p- recording 3D camera module, that means that is a camera capable of capturing 3D HD Videos/Pictures.

Its of cource intended for mobile devices like smartphones and point-and-shoot digicams, this miniature wonder will be sampling in July and hitting mass production before the end of the year.

Sharp Corporation has developed a 3D camera module for mobile devices capable of capturing high-definition (720p*2) 3D video images, an industry first. Sharp will start shipping samples in July. Mass production of these modules will begin within 2010.

3D images are composed of two views taken using two cameras that simultaneously capture separate images for the right and left eyes. Consequently, a 3D camera requires peripheral circuitry to apply image processing to the two images, for example, to adjust color or to correct positioning between the images from the two cameras. Manufacturers have thus been pursuing designs that reduce the size and weight of 3D cameras and seeking ways to shorten their development period.

The current 3D camera module developed by Sharp incorporates functions to process the image data output by the left and right cameras, including Color Synchronizing Processing to adjust color and brightness, Timing Synchronizing Processing to synchronize the timing of the video signals, and Optical Axis Control Processing to correct positioning. In addition, Fast Readout Technology rapidly transfers video data from the image sensor, enabling 3D images to be captured in high-resolution HD mode. Further, in developing this camera module, Sharp applied high-density mounting technology nurtured over long years of experience in camera module development to achieve a compact form. Embedding this camera module in mobile devices such as digital cameras, mobile phones, and smartphones will contribute to the development of a wide range of new, innovative communications tools.

In the future, Sharp will be opening up new 3D markets based on 3D display technologies, including small/medium-size and large-size 3D LCDs, as well as on 3D input device technologies such as 3D camera modules.

Another Next Gen iPhone Leak

Yet another next gen iPhone has been leaked again! This time in vietnam.I sure do what an next gen apple iPhone is doing in vietnam. Well anyways, this time Taoviet, a vietnam tech blog found it and yeah, it looks quite identicle to the one Gizmodo found. Wonder if Apple will resort to the same measures they did to Gizmodo's editor. Parachuting hero

If you're skydiving and your parachute fails, there's always a backup. But what if the backup fails, too? That's when you pray that you're jumping with a hero like Dave Hartsock, who risked his own life to save someone else's.




Hartsock was the instructor paired with Shirley Dygert for her first ever skydive—a challenge she undertook to celebrate her 54th birthday. But the jump took a nightmarish turn when their first parachute failed to fully deploy and the backup chute got tangled up along with it.



As they were plummeting toward the Earth at 40mph, Hartsock pulled the chutes' control handles to position himself underneath Dygert, hoping to break her fall when they hit the ground. His plan worked: Dygert walked away with only minor injuries, though Hartsock himself was left paralyzed. He's slowly regaining some feeling, but even in recovery he remains humble about his actions:

People keep telling me that it was a heroic thing to do...In my opinion it was just the right thing to do. I mean, I was the one who was completely responsible for her safety. What other choices were there?

Well, Personally I think that this guy is seriously heroic. People like him are hard to come by. So yeah do donate to him if you want to at sky diver hero. awesome-ness. On the other hand, im now afraid of parachute jumping even more.

Shrek Forever after is going to be released by DREAMWORK studios and it will also be released in 3D

Well, That's interesting. Shrek in 3D and Sir Alex Ferguson's scottish acccent. Personally, i had'nt watched it yet cause its not released but im betting its going to be interesting. CGI in 3D just like how to train your dragon. Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam just confirmed that

his company is working on tablets with Google in an interview with the Wall Street Journal.McAdam

 said tablets are "part of the 'next big wave of opportunities. Verizon's "looking at all the things Google has in its archives that we could put on a tablet to make it a great experience." ,i

I would NOT be suprised if Android was the OS but than again it could be GOOGLE chrome OS.

Project Natal, Release

Yahooooooo! Microsoft has confirmed that their new Project Natal hardware add-on for the XBOX 360 is being released in the year of 2010 in OCTOBER. Yes OCTOBER, much earlier than expected. Dont believe what i am saying? here's a quote

Microsoft's marketing manager for Saudi Arabia says that the Natal launch,
"is going to be somewhere in October and we will be in a position to confirm the date at E3, which is in June, but definitely it is going to be October 2010."

OK. Generally, the Natal is like Wii but WITHOUT any CONTROLLERS developed by microsoft.
